We’re Back, Baby
We have exciting news: Sunset Parent Advocates is back! After a quiet stretch, we're refreshing the group and gearing up for what's next.
A quick acknowledgement: When we banded together in December 2025, the response was incredible - there was a timeliness to the response to keep Sunset Dunes closure off ballots - the community showed up, and your energy carried us through! In February, life caught up with our founding team returning to work post-maternity leave. Being stretched thinner than was sustainable, we made the hard call to pause on new events rather than show up at half capacity. Thank you for sticking around while we regrouped.
The good news: we're back, and we're restarting with more structure this time. Here's what to expect:
With summer fast approaching, we know schedules change and many of us have travel plans. Our goal for the group in Jun-Jul-Aug is to grow community, have fun, and get to know one another as we prepare to dive into deeper advocacy work and civic projects in the fall. We’ve put together a calendar of easily accessible, low effort, kid friendly (as always!) fun events to get together over the summer. A big dose of fun for the kids sprinkled with volunteerism and creating neighborhood joy!
Some of these upcoming events include:
Wine Hang to vote for our community projects
Family Farmers Market meetup
Crafts & Coffee neighborhood beautification
Ocean Beach Cleanup and Bubble Party
Sunset Fire station visit (and firehats for everyone!)
Glow-in-the-dark, pre-bedtime pajama parade
Parents Night Out
These events and more are on our NEW public event calendar!
— and that brings us to one ask.
We're moving our main communication to a newsletter. It's a better fit for sharing event invites, updates, and resources without losing things in a text group.. If you'd like to stay in the loop, please sign up here.
We will send event reminders via whatsApp for the next little while as folks migrate over, but signing up for the newsletter is the best way to make sure you hear about what's next.
Thanks for sticking with us. We're glad to be back.
